Registration How To?
(Please read Help about Seek Discipline! before
asking questions or reporting problems)
This list of "How To?" questions and answers explains
how to modify your registration settings, set your owner etc. The
rest of the Registration Guide explains concepts
like Slave Registration Numbers,
barcodes, and the physical
measurement of slaves in detail.
If you don't already have a profile on Seek Discipline!,
then you should read How to get an SLRN.
If you have an active Slave Registration Number, it
will be displayed on your profile page - near the top of the list showing
your details.
It's also possible for your profile to have an SLRN which isn't being
displayed to other users. You can tell if this is the case by going to
Your Settings and then to "Add/Change profile names":
any SLRNs your profile has will be listed there.
The next question explains how to make them active again:
If you've got an SLRN which isn't active (as described in
How to tell if you have an SLRN), you can reactivate
it and make it a visible part of your profile again by following these
steps:
Go to Your Settings and then to "Add/Change profile names".
Find the
SLRN you want on the list of old profile names, and click on the "Use
again" button. This will make the SLRN part of your visible profile
and make it your current profile name. If you want to keep the SLRN
visible but go back to your non-numeric profile name, re-select that
name from the list: this leaves the SLRN active and displayed on
the second line of your profile page but your non-numeric name will
be displayed everywhere else in the system.
If you have an SLRN displayed on your profile page under a
non-numeric profile name and want to remove the SLRN, go to
Your Settings, then to "Add/Change profile names" and then
use the "Un-select registration number" to remove the SLRN.
(If you don't have a non-numeric profile name as well, this option won't be
offered. In that case you should use the "Add/Change profile names"
page to create a non-numeric name first.)
If you don't already have a profile on Seek Discipline!
(SD!), the easiest way to get a Slave Registration Number (SLRN) is to use the
"Register" option described in the
Profiles How To?.
If you already have a SD! profile, but want to add an SLRN to it, then you
should first check you don't already have an inactive
SLRN. If you don't, then you can add an SLRN by going to
Your Settings, then to "Add/Change profile names", and
then using the "Add a registration number" button.
Once you add an SLRN to your profile it cannot be removed!, so think
very carefully before adding one. (Although you can
deactivate an SLRN, which removes the reference to
it on your main profile page.)
Everyone with a profile on Seek Discipline! (SD!) who also has
an active Slave Registration Number (SLRN) automatically
has a link to their certificate on
The Slave Register website
from their profile page on SD! (there will be one on
your profile page if you have an SLRN.)
So getting a certificate really means following the
instructions for getting an SLRN.
If you know you have an SLRN, you can modify most
of the settings on your certificate on
The Slave Register by going to
Your Settings on the Seek Discipline! website, then to "Profile
settings", and then
scroll down to the "Certificate settings" section of that page.
That form allows you to declare your status as free, in service, owned etc;
the date on which you became owned etc; and your owner or
dominant's name. (Values which aren't applicable aren't displayed on your
certificate: so if you're not owned, the ownership date is ignored.)
That form also lets you set your owner's name by hand, but a better way is
described in How to add your owner's name.
You can add your owner's name to your profile page, and to your certificate
if you have an SLRN, using the network feature of SD!.
It's also possible to add your owner's name to your certificate by hand,
but using the network is better, since your owner's name will appear as a
link to their profile page, and their profile page will have a link back to
your profile.
The page about Your Network explains how networks
work. Your owner needs to have SD! profile first. You go to their profile
page, and then use the "Add/change on your network" button. The system
allows you to send a message along with the network invitation, and that
page includes an option to set them as your owner.
The other person will then be sent a memo inviting them to join your
network, and for all this to take effect, they have to click a button in
the memo accepting the connection. If they ignore your memo, nothing will
be changed.
However, if they do accept, then their name will appear on the list
showing your details on your profile page, with a label like "Owned
by:". You can change the label by setting your ownership status, by
going to Your Settings and then "Profile settings".
If you are on your owner's network already, then you can mark them as your
owner using the Change button in either network, and selecting "Send
ownership request memo".
If you have an SLRN, your owner's name will also appear in the text near the
bottom of your profile page which links to your certificate, and on the
certificate itself.
(If you had set an owner name by hand on "Profile settings", that
value will be overwritten by your owner's official profile name - the one
they use when they sign-in.)
The simplest way to remove the owner name is to go to Your Settings,
then to "Profile settings" and set your ownership type to free.
You can also remove the owner name from your profile by going to
their profile page, then to their network, and use the "Change"
button on their link to you. That page allows you to remove them as your
owner. Their ownership
of you is removed as soon as you submit that form (you don't need to wait
for them to approve any network comment for that change to take effect.)
Ownership Icons can be displayed on your
web board posts, and on your network
connections. You can choose which icon to display by going
Your Settings, then "Profile settings". The
"Gender:" option plus the "Ownership status:" your
selection
determines which icon is shown, but
you must have "Ownership icon:" set to "Shown"
for the icon to be displayed.
You can modify your ownership status (free, owned, in service etc)
going to Your Settings, then to "Profile settings", and then
using the "ownership status" selection box.
This setting is used on certificates, and determines whether the system
displays an owned or unowned ownership icon
on your web board posts. Declaring a submissive or slave
orientation also converts your profile type from standard to subscription.
There are three classes of profile on SD!: standard which is the default;
subscriptions for submissives and slaves (including registrations); and
memberships for owners, masters, dominants etc. If you have an active
registration number or set your ownership type to submissive or slave, then
the "Profile type" line on your profile will appear as
"Subscription".
Your Slave Registration Number is always displayed
on your certificate, but you can also display a name as well as the
number. The system uses your profile name for this, if you have one.
If you don't have a profile name in addition to your SLRN, then you
can create one by going to
Your Settings, then to "Add/Change profile names", and
then using the "Create new profile name" button.
(Some very old registrations also had the option to set a "Name on
certificate" on their "Profile settings" page, but setting
a profile name will overwrite this value.)
Go to Your Settings, then to "Physical description".
The page about measurements explains in detail
how to make the various measurements ("cuff size", "ankle
slip" etc.)
Go to Your Settings, then to "Physical description" and
enter your birth year.
SD! will never display your birth year, only your age. The calculation
treats everyone as having 31st of December as their birthday. For most people,
this underestimates their age. If this bothers you, you should reduce your
birthyear by 1 for the part of the year after your birthday.
To upload a photograph from your comptuer, go to Your Settings, then to
"Manage Your Pictures" and follow the instructions.
Once your picture is approved by us, go back to "Manage Your
Pictures" and click on the thumbnail version of the picture, to get
to the picture's own page. Underneath the picture is a button to make that
picture appear on your profile page, and beside your web board posts.
The procedure is set out on the disputes page.
