Calling a slave 'it' (64)
Mon 1 Oct 07, 11:34 PM Dragonfyre UK, 2 yrs Y! |
I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this topic, but here goes. I've read a few posts here where the owners refer to their slaves as "it". Am I the only one here who feels uncomfortable seeing slaves referred to in that way? I'm still fairly new to the lifestyle and still learning (in fact still learning if I can own a slave at all, having tried and failed in the past), so I don't know if I have the right mindset for it just yet.
Having read Dave Pelzer's "A child called it" books, whenever I read a post referring to a slave as "it" I just get a jarring feeling down my spine (that's the best way I can describe it!). I know that Mr Pelzer's childhood and consensual slavery are two completely different things, and I'm aware of the concept of objectification, but it just doesn't sit right with me.
Does anyone else feel the same way, or am I on my own on this one?

I feel the same but then there are a lot of different terms here that might sound strange. I'm not criticizing by any means, it is an individual choice. Vad Farkas

i am slave to Master JB.
Master often refers to me as 'it'- as i am 'it'
a thing, His possession.
i am proud that Master can speak of me this way. - i am slave. |

I feel that some slaves respond to it. It's definitely more extreme than usual and not something that I currently do with my girl because I don't see any aspect of her personality that would respond positively to it. If, however, it did push her deeper into her submission then I would do it in a heartbeat. I think it's just a case of different strokes for different folks. I personally feel that owning a human being is vastly different than owning other types of property. But like other people on this thread have said, that's just me. I don't see anything wrong with it if the Master prefers it. It can help, I suppose, the Master to feel at ease with his/her ownership.

"it" would be fine with this it, if that's what its Master/Owner wished to call it.
a slave is a possessed object, granted a human being, but still its Owner's object of possession.

i struggle with the phrase "just a slave" as in "you are just a slave".
i don't know why that bothers me so much...it just does.

I sometimes call my slave 'it'. Not something I do all the time, but just depends on the moment, my mood, what result I'm aiming for, and what I judge to be appropriate at any one particular moment. My slave has a developed sense of being an object and item of property, and tends to respond positively to being called 'it'. Of course, it's different for different relationships and there's no right or wrong approach, only what suits you! |

Just to point out I wasn't criticising anyone for calling their slave 'it', each to their own and so on, but something about it jars with me and I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way. Thanks for all the responses

To me that phrasing trivialises what we do. Makes it to be something of no account, not to be concerned with, something without worth.
That's how we use such phrasing in other situations. iinarihoudai

my Master has never referred to me as an "it". i believe if a Master truly cherishes His slave, He will see her as more than an "it". |
