Elvis has left the building. (46)
Moved from IE Theory
Sat 19 Jan 08, 12:30 PM Wreckwium 3 yrs |
It's been an interesting two years, and I'm very grateful to Tanos for hosting this place. But it's stopped being fun.
'Slavery' seems to have changed its meaning. Lately, this place seems full of people who are happy to argue that triangles have four sides, and that slavery means.....whatever they want it to mean. As long as that differs from the dictionary definition.
I'm grateful to BA for the phrase 'weekend ass slappers', which has given me a lot of enjoyment, but I don't want to spend my time with them. For those few of you truly interested in slavery, goodbye and good luck. Elvis has left the building. |

The ship isn't sinking, man. It's just taking on water. We have to diligently man the pumps to keep it from going under, and the less hands available, the less chance we'll have. I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.

Can anyone tell me why my original response to this thread has a line through it and isn't showing up on the board unless I click on the thread?
At any rate, I hate to see you go, Wreckwium. Holding back the tide of fluff bunnies will be harder now. I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.

I will miss your sarcasm and straight talk.
We need more people here who can break down all the flowery talk for us simple folk. |

I'm sorry to see you go as well, best of luck to you. We'll keep some bibles, er dictionaries, warm and ready for thumping if you ever decide to return.

Does this mean there's an opening in your fan club now? Where do I sign up for bunny tasering lessons?

I too will be sad to see you go. We are in grave danger of this site becoming yet another watered down PC 'everything is ok because it is really about the slave and not about the owner' forum. Which is so depressing. Is there really no possibility of you staying and helping keep our reality represented?

*sigh* TSR has changed, I'm sad to say... I dunno if it's a temporary low or a permanent one. I've noticed many forums go through them every once in a while. This, however... feels different.
I don't post a lot, but threads here are very, very important to me.. and with this much people leaving the fourm, it's hard to find topics that ... well, matter to me.
IC has more of them, but still not the wealth of information and thought I've found here. Honestly, TSR is (was?) the only place anyhere outside of my home where I'm truly accepted for who I am and my opinions are tested, instead of being branded as an idiot or mentally ill.
I'm sad to see another familiar name disappear. Finally back where i belong...

Grr, yes but if we all give up we may as well throw in the towel. Surely instead of flouncing off, it's better to stay and argue your point or just read if you dont want to and join in when it is back on track?
At the end of the day many weekend ass slappers or fluffy slaffes will come and go, but if the fundamental basics stay and keep the input to where they WANT it to be it will change. All web boards vary like the tide yet it comes back to the basics if those in the core value their beliefs and stand up for them.
Just put iron pants on and stay resolute!

I understand what you're saying, but people just get 'tired' of doing that all the time and just want one place where they can 'be' without having to do what they have to do every day elsewhere with other boards, friends, families, workplace or MP's etc etc I wrote a great big long post saying how I could understand the ~feeling~ behind the OP's words and why even though I haven't been here for a while and don't know what's made them feel that way, I have hacked it all to sum it up a little in one short paragraph that kinda says it all for me:
If the OP had written the above on another site where I watched it all going on constantly, I'd have written and recommended this place to them. So seeing a post writing that way on this site, that's kinda sad, to me, y'know?

I was disappointed to see Wreckweum (sp) leave, but people have to do what is right for them. I hope he decides to come back at some point.
I have been very grateful to see those I admire on the board sticking it out/returning. I haven't felt as though I've had a lot to contribute, but have been reading. I'm not posting much coherently I suppose; having the upheaval of moving to/from/back to university was difficult, but in returning me to the uni this last week William and I were struck with Influenza A, which I'm still recovering from.
My spirits were lifted to see Carolyn and Steve posting again, along with the others whose voices I've respected and enjoyed through the last few years.
Will close this out as I've sat here for at least 5 minutes staring blankly at the screen, the phrase "spongebob ironpants" running through my mind and thinking of 16th century Shakespearean contemporaries wearing iron pantaloons, and thinking it's the flu, thinking that I'd better close before this gets more strange.
