Sorry, your answer just bewilders me...WHERE did you see me say anything about not wanting to accept my Owner's mark?!?
Just want to find someone who is skilled and safe....for both of us!
Thank you to those of you who have given advice and recommnedations, PA is fairly close and we may make the trip out over the summer to look into this more.

I forgot to mention that if you are going to make a trip, you need to call first because they require half down & artwork to be sent. They will then look at it and discuss any problems with making the symbol you send, such as minimum size. They also need time to make the branding irons. The cost is determined on the complexity of the symbol, as well as the number of branding irons needed.
Good Luck! DarkSado

Hello all
Have I heard something about the pain issue being less than you might expect because when a brand is done properly it produces a third degree burn which cauterises the site... so no more nerve signals?
That's not to say it's not painful but it's not a continual pain like a light skin burn or scald you might get in the kitchen which are oddly worse because they are only on the surface layer of the skin.
No experience here and it could be a shedload of rubbish but I know I read it somewhere.
I for one can understand the desire and once fantasised about being branded but the reality would scare the crap out of me. Funny how that happens when it becomes a real possibility eh?

I'm going to add my 2cents worth on this subject. When I had my first slave hot-iron branded,it was done by a professional in a controlled environment. As far as the pain she reported to me,she stated that it wasn't nearly as painful as her piercings that I had required for her.During the branding she didn't need to be restrained, she held my hands and hardly made a sound. The whole situation was nothing like the scene in "The Story of O"(that movie was a farce). My slave of 18 years died a few years ago in a car wreck, she always told me that she considered the brand a badge of honor. It was done on her right butt cheek.I realize that every M/s relationship is different but this has been my experience. In my view, the lack of qualified resources remains daunting. While i remain unowned, and i would unconditionally welcome and not question the decision of an eventual owner to be branded or tattooed as directed, my issue currently is this: while branding is not as legally regulated as tattooing (pointed out above), what about the apparent scarcity of scene-friendly practicioners? Having communicated with many bodymod artists, most rail at the prospect of tattooing or branding within a scene. For me at this time, that is an important element of what i seek - to forfeit control and submit within a ritualistic scene for tattooing, branding or both. I've had no success in locating trained professionals willing to offer their services to a bound and gagged subject as i wish to be. Surely there are artists out there; but how does an owner or I for that matter, find one? Perhaps it is best to await my fate and leave the issue to my owner to resolve. On the other hand, were i able to locate a willing artist, sign a waiver if required, i'd happily submit for more everlasting marks to attest my commitment to my future owner. |

I will get a tatoo with my barcode. So I will always be visible as a slave. |

I think its up to a Dom/Domme to decide if their property should be branded.
I myself would like to brand a slave that I took ownership of. It would hold meaning for the slave too, give them a sense of worthiness.

Frankly, I wonder whether being branded while gagged raises a safety issue -- the need to be able to immediately communicate with the brander if anything is somehow starting to go seriously wrong in any way. Any brander who thinks ahead to potential legal liablility issues (if something were to go wrong) would find it in his basic self-interest to turn you down...

While i agree that most branding practicioners would turn down my request, i expect it's more for legal ramifications than safety issues. Strike branding is a very quick process. A suitably experienced artist can surely and safely administer a branding without verbal communication from the subject. In my view, the concern is more likely with potential legal liabilities post event. To address that, all I can offer is a pre-signed legal waiver. It's a pity that indulgence of one's yearnings within a scene would require a "pre-scene" contract. Furthermore, i expect that even with such a signed document, there would be few artists willing to indulge me. Slaves just wanna have fun... |

Approximately a decade ago I was in a piercing shop in Vancouver, BC, Canada having my nipples pierced. After the piercer was finished with me we heard the conversation in the next room that a customer was getting a brand. I mentioned I had been thinking about getting a brand and asked if I could watch. The customer and the technician consented and we watched the procedure. The design was quite intricate with the branding iron made of paper clips formed into the design. He heated it with a propane torch until it was very hot. He explained that the trick to a successful brand was making sure the iron does not stick to the skin.
The customer certainly winced when the iron struck (I know bad pun). But what I won't forget is the smell of burning flesh. The design was beautiful. If my future Master wants me branded, I'm hoping He/She will employ someone skilled in the process. |
