I'm not 100% that you can lactate w/o ever being pregnant. If you HAVE ever been pregnant, even 20 years ago, the sucking/pumping will work. Other than that...maybe a high dose birth control pill..? I should add that drugs to help the process are often prescribed by a Dr, which may prove a boundary for you. That would be my ultimate concern (the baby receiving all the nutrition that it needs) rather than the baby swallowing a ring. I've seen what those things can go through - the pulling and tugging they can take and still stay whole and in the nipple with no problems.
