My favorite is a standard oak wood paddle. I'm not in the UK, but bought mine over the internet. They are inexpensive and sturdier than other wood paddles.
Try www.sub-shop.com or www.pexxx.com

There are a variety of materials, such as wood, leather and rubber. Each has its own feel.
your Master could look into having one made with an imprint cut out in the center.
This could be of His favorite mark.
When He paddles you, an imprint of His mark will show.

I bought a beech spatula from Woolworth's in the kitchen section I find it very effective, but it only covers one buttock at once |

Which type of paddle has a better effect and is worth spending money on in your opinions?

David sama:
A longer narrow paddle, will focus the pain on a smaller area. The pain will usually feel more intense & stinging.
A wide oval, or round paddle will spread the pain over a wider area and not be so intense.
As for value for your money; a quality wooden paddle can cost you $40+ US and will last forever.
A leather paddle costing $60+ US, won't last as long as wood, but if cared for will give you many years of use.
Rubber will last a long time and should somewhere in the middle.
I personally prefer to use round leather paddles & long narrow wooden paddles.
For a more severe mark & intense sting, look into canes.

Thank you. I think I shall get both and test and see which i prefer (leather and wood). Rubber seems like it would be weird and not as efficient.

Good decision.
I don't care for rubber either, unless it's a flogger with very thin round tails.
I think You'll like the results of leather AND wood.
You'll have a choice as to what type of mark & pain You wish to inflict without spending too much money.
Good Luck!

David Sama,
As a fellow Wisconsinite, I'd like to point out that you have one of the better shopping stores for implements, right near you. That's right, farm and fleet. Check out thier equestrian aisle. They have many fine horsewhips, usually many to pick from. While they have many riding crops, I was able to find a braided leather one there, one of the nicer ones I've ever seen. They also sell sweatscrapers, for horses there. I have a wooden one but they also sell plastic ones. These are excellent for spanking and directing your blows. A few Aisles over you will find pig slappers, leather, noise makers and good for warm ups. Wander over to the paint department and grab a few of thier 5 gallon bucket stir sticks, excellent attention getters, for such a small thing it really can deliver a whallop. Back to the equestrian Aisle, if you look in the harnesses, they have many fine pieces of leather here for straps. I have a modified girth strap that works great. All this for half the cost of any place else.
I make alot of my own paddles, If anyones interested I have a full line of lexan paddles and several wood paddles. My email is on my profile
I come from a spanko background, so if anyone has a question one the effects of certain paddles or whatever, I would be glad to help
Thanks
