Holy molasses! That's the kind of snail James is. I wonder how he comes to be here in Washington state.
My kids would mutiny if I ate him (hee) but I had a lady on a gardening site say she built a large, low screen cage in her garden, planted it completely with thyme, and introduced a colony of snails into it for harvesting and eating. She said by eating only the thyme they were pre-seasoned

Now I'm going to marry my first wife, then I'm going to divorce her. Now, I know what you're going to say, but stick with me, my story gets better! I'm going to marry my second wife, then I'm going to kill her! Cut her head off! Ah, you weren't expecting that, were you? Third wife, going to shoot her!

Hi All,
I just wanted to say that I also remember this type of snail from the Black Forest (was stationed there) and I truly love to eat them. I've eaten them several different ways but my favourite is still sauteed in butter and garlic. When they are cooked just enough they have a unique and enjoyable texture as well. Take care.

P.S. Why is it always so drunk out on Remembrance Day? I've been drunk on this same day for the last 26 years . . . that number makes me feel old today . . . also the fact that I'm already partied out and the young lads where still on the upswing when I slipped out. Here's to hoping I don't get whisky dick as well. |
