Ritual

A ritual is a set of actions mainly performed for their symbolic meaning. Rituals are common in ownership relationships, and are used to affirm the dominant and submissive's status.

Marking transition events

  • Collaring

Respectful protocols

A protocol is a rule or code of formally correct behaviour, especially describing how an activity should be performed. In D/s, adherence to protocols is a way of demonstrating submission, and has ritual significance.

  • Bow or curtsey
  • Kiss bed before entering
  • Removing shoes in dominant's presence
